Within this 21st century, humanity will continue to exert pressure on its environment, whilst a degrading environment will continue to endanger the quality of life. The environmental challenges are nowadays huge, and implementing measures to alleviate the impact of environmental pressures on the quality of life, and hence to reach sustainable development, should be based on a sound knowledge of the environmental system. High quality environmental science, technology and management is therefore more than ever needed.
Environmental science, technology and management is initiated, developed, validated and continuously questioned by high quality researchers, in particular researcher with a Ph.D. degree. These researchers are trained and skilled in universities. As a result of the harmonisation of the higher educational system in Europe, the legal framework within Communauté Française de Belgique, allows now to structure and optimise the Ph.D. training activities in the universities and associate research centres. This opportunity allows to deploy a set of graduate school activities and ENVITAM is one of them. This web site allows you discover its content, the objectives, the partners, the role of the scientific committee, the planned activities, are accessible through this site. However, ENVITAM is yet only a structure. It should be animated by trainees and instructors who share the common concern for the fragile environment and who are willing to make the graduate school alive. We invite you to take part of this process and wish you a pleasant exploration of the site.
